The environment is present in our time as a context of crisis to deal with and solve through extensive retraining processes. The emergency concerns all the places that have been invested by the overwhelming anthropization of the last century: cities, countryside, river and sea shores, inner areas and mountains. To re‐qualify, complex activities need to be put in place, based on dedicated engineering services.

The profound economic, social and cultural transformations that have crossed over the last decades by the international community require increasingly innovative ways of understanding the planning and infrastructure of the territory.

Today, it is more than ever necessary to regulate the transformations of the settlement environment, both inside and outside the city, involving activities that cross all sectors and specializations of collective living, responding to the opposite demands of economic development and quality of life. It is necessary for this to move with the heritage of a culture articulated and integrated but flexible and open to innovation and experimentation of ever new solutions.
