The area serviced by this Wadi As Sarim dam is prone to extended draughts and the feasibility of the construction of one or two ground water recharge dams had to be investigated.
It was found that both dams were very feasible and with good potential to enhance the ground water conditions in the area. The study showed that the actual runoff is enough to serve both dams. The final decision was to consider the construction of both dams. One dam will be a zoned earth embankment of approx 240mt long and just more than 14mt high with a simple intake, outlet system and steeped gabion spillway. The second dam will be located in a narrower valley and will be a RCC dam of approximately 125mt long and 15mt high.
